Meet Our People
Industry leaders bringing decades of experience in biopharmaceutics, supply chain management and finance.

Dr James Paterson
Principal Consultant & Founder
Pharmacy graduate with a PhD in biopharmaceutics and 25 years’ experience at GSK in R&D and supply chain.
James studied Pharmacy before undertaking his PhD in Biopharmaceutics at the University of Otago. He has 25 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, the majority of which was spent at GlaxoSmithKline, initially in R&D in the United Kingdom and later in supply chain roles across Asia‑Pacific. During this time he partnered with external API and drug product manufacturers throughout China, Japan, India and beyond, applying biopharmaceutics expertise alongside regulatory and product quality requirements to ensure continuity of supply.
He was a founding Co‑Chair of GSK’s Pharmaceutical Technical Council, responsible for “make versus buy” technical assessment, lifecycle management and third‑party supplier support. Since 2023 James has been Principal Consultant at Ukini Group, a specialty consulting organisation providing CMC and product development support for mRNA and antisense oligonucleotide‑based products. His broad industry exposure led him to establish Greengates Bio.

Dr Mark McAllister
Senior Advisor
Pharmacy graduate with over 30 years’ experience in oral drug delivery and biopharmaceutics, formerly Head of Global Biopharmaceutics at GSK.
Mark is a pharmacy graduate from Queen’s University Belfast with a PhD in pharmaceutics from Aston University. He has specialised in oral delivery systems and biopharmaceutics for more than three decades through roles at Hoechst‑Roussel, GlaxoSmithKline and, most recently, as Senior Director and Head of Global Biopharmaceutics at GSK.
A former chair of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and current visiting lecturer at King’s College London, Mark co‑led the IMI “OrBiTo” project developing next‑generation models to predict oral absorption. He participates in several pre‑competitive research programmes including COLOTAN, AGePOP and InPharma Marie Skłodowska‑Curie networks. Mark is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Dr Inese Sarcevica
Biopharmaceutics Specialist
Chemistry PhD with experience in academia and industry (Eurofins, Pfizer) focusing on modelling techniques for drug product understanding.
Inese holds a PhD in Chemistry and has worked in both academia and the pharmaceutical industry, including at Eurofins and Pfizer. Her postgraduate work at the University of Latvia instilled a fascination with molecular processes, a foundation that proved invaluable in the biopharmaceutics field where understanding the physicochemical properties of drug substances is crucial for product performance.
Throughout her career she has developed modelling techniques that extract insights from experimental data, enabling better prediction of drug product behaviour. While at Pfizer she integrated knowledge of material properties with in vitro study outcomes to forecast product performance. Her expertise enhances our ability to build robust supply chains around complex molecules.
